Political Unrest; The Cold War: A Race Between Nations
The Cold War during the late 20th century caused the political and military tensions between world powers United States
and the Soviet Union. An overwhelming sense of mutual distrust and enmity was
prevalent between the two powers. Neither of the two sides wanted to attack the
other, as both had possession of nuclear weapons which could cause complete
destruction of not only each other, but themselves. In order to advance in the war, the United States had to advance technologically. The Internet would give Americans the ability to send and receive information instantly, putting them at an advantage to their counterparts.
